Dalayah Daniels Garners Pac-12 All-Freshman Team Honorable Mention
BERKELEY – Following an impressive regular season, Dalayah Daniels has been named a Pac-12 All-Freshman Team Honorable Mention.
Daniels is having a memorable freshman campaign in Berkeley. The Seattle, Washington native was the only Bear to start all 16 games during the regular season and she is leading the team in scoring with 12.0 points per game. Furthermore, her 6.6 rebounds per game are the second most on the team and the ninth-most in the Pac-12 while her average 5.38 defensive rebounds are ranked fourth in the conference. Daniels contributed a significant number of minutes this season as well, averaging 35.32 per contest which is the fourth-most in the Pac-12.
Daniels has scored in double figures nine times so far this season including recording a career-high 24 points twice against San Francisco and No. 10 Arizona. Throughout the year, she has collected four double-doubles which is the most of any freshman in the conference.
"It's great for Dalayah to receive this type of recognition in such a competitive conference," head coach Charmin Smith said. "I'm proud of how she and her teammates have continued to fight and improve during a challenging year. We know there's much more ahead for Dalayah and our program."
Daniels and the Bears will now head to Las Vegas for the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament. They will face Oregon State (five seed) in the first round on Wednesday, March 3 at 11am.
