LOUISVILLE, Ky. - For the third time in her career, Gabbie Plain has been named the Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week. This is the third week in a row that Plain has earned a weekly honor after picking up Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week each of the last two weeks.

Last week, Plain allowed just one run in 20.2 innings of work. The Huskies had shutouts in three of Plain's four appearances, with the senior going 3-0. Plain allowed 11 baserunners total, striking out 36 to put her second in the nation in strikeouts this season. Plain also recorded her 21st double-digit strikeout game, the third-most in Washington history, begin only Danielle Lawrie and Taran Alvelo and tied with Ashley Boek. She had a streak of five consecutive double-digit strikeouts games that came to a close this week when she struck out seven in a five-inning shutout of San Diego.

Plain is the first Husky to earn NFCA Pitcher of the Week since 2019, when Plain earned the award for the second time in her career. Plain is now tied with Danielle Lawrie for the most NFCA weekly honors in Washington history with three. She is the only Husky in program history to earn the award in three different seasons.

This week, Washington will play a three-game series at Hawai'i, beginning Thursday at 8:00 pm PT. Washington will open its home season next week, hosting the Husky Classic.
