Spitz Stays in Contention at Bruin Wave Invitational
SOMIS, Calif. - It was another windy day at the Bruin Wave Invitational, but sophomore Emma Spitz battled the elements to shoot the second-best score at The Saticoy Club on Tuesday.
Spitz shot an even-par 72 in her second round and is at 2-over 146 through 36 holes, three shots back of leader Linn Grant (-1, 143) from Arizona State. Spitz made three birdies on the par-4 third and par-5 sixth and 14th holes and three bogeys.
As a team, the Bruins are in fifth place (+48, 624) after shooting a 23-over 311 on Tuesday.
Sophomore Yuki Yoshihara is tied for 13th (+10, 154), making 14 pars and four bogeys in a 4-over 76. Sophomore Annabel Wilson is tied for 32nd (+16, 160), recording back-to-back birdies on the par-5 eighth and par-3 ninth holes, six bogeys and a triple in a 7-over 79. Junior Phoebe Yue, playing as an individual, is tied for 52nd (+21, 165). She made back-to-back birdies on the par-3 13th and par-5 14th holes, four bogeys, three doubles and a triple (+11, 83). Sophomore Emilie Paltrinieri is also tied for 52nd, making a birdie on the par-5 14th, four bogeys, a double, a triple and a nine (+13, 85). Junior Simar Singh is 71st (+28, 172), posting a birdie on the par-3 13th, 10 bogeys and a triple (+12, 84).
The Bruins begin their final round at 8:55 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Singh, Paltrinieri, Wilson, Yoshihara and Spitz. Yue will start on the 10th hole at 9:06 a.m. Live scoring will be available here.
