Both Husky Squads Are Through To NCAAs
SEATTLE – It was an unusual route and a different selection process but the bottom line remains the same as both Husky men's and women's cross country squads have punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships. Washington will head to Stillwater, Okla. to compete in the national championship on Monday, Mar. 15.
Coming off matching third-place finishes at the Pac-12 Championships, the Huskies thought they were in good position to earn spots in the 31-team fields. That was confirmed today as the fields were announced on a selection show on NCAA.com.
Washington is one of 17 programs to qualify both teams for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, and one of three Pac-12 teams along with Stanford and Colorado.
The championships will be held at the OSU Cross Country Course and will be televised live on ESPNU. The women's race will go off at 9:50 a.m. Pacific time and the men's race will get underway at 10:40 a.m. Pacific.
This will be the 14th consecutive NCAA appearance for the women's quad and the 24th appearance in the last 26 years.
The men are making their fourth-straight appearance and the sixth in the past seven years.
