LOS ANGELES – UCLA scored on a penalty kick in the 100th minute to beat Oregon State, 2-1, in overtime, Senior Marley Canales scored the golden goal to keep the Bruins' perfect record intact at 6-0, 3-0 in Pac-12 play.
Mia Fishel earned the penalty kick after she was fouled in the box by a Beaver defender after receiving a through ball from Sunshine Fontes. Canales, who came into the game a perfect 4-for-4 from the penalty spot, stepped up with the opportunity to end the game and buried it for the game-winner.
The two teams played a defensive grind in the first half, combining for just six shots, but the last shot of the half, a Fishel header off a Canales corner kick, was the important one, giving the Bruins a 1-0 lead at the half.

Oregon State (2-4, 0-3) scored at 66:19 in a similar manner, with Sydney Studer equalizing on a header off a corner kick. Kaillen Fried sent the corner to the left post that Madison Ellsworth popped up. With Bruin goalkeeper Lauren Brzykcy contesting the corner, Studer leaped up to head Ellsworth's ball past a pair of Bruin defenders at the line.
The Bruins had a chance to end it in the final seconds of regulation when Kennedy Faulknor sent a ball into the box that bounced off goalkeeper Bridgette Skiba's leg and onto oncoming traffic, but a Beaver defender put enough pressure on Reilyn Turner to prevent her from putting a shot on target.
UCLA outshot Oregon State in the contest, 17-6, and had a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks. Brzykcy made one save, while Skiba had three.
The Bruins will next play at Colorado on Friday, Mar. 12 at 12pm MT/11am PT on Pac-12 Networks.
