SEATTLE – The No. 6 UCLA women's tennis team bested No. 39 Washington, 6-1, to complete a Pac-12-opening sweep of its Pacific Northwest foes Sunday afternoon at Nordstrom Tennis Center.

The Bruins (8-2, 2-0 Pac-12) previously defeated No. 47 Washington State by an identical 6-1 score Friday. They five-point final margin was also their third in a row against a Pac-12 team. Abi Altick, Annette Goulak and Taylor Johnson picked up the initial three points in singles play, with Johnson providing the clincher. Abbey Forbes and Sasha Vagramov were also victorious for the Bruins. Sedona Gallagher logged the only win of the day for the Huskies (7-3, 0-2).

Forbes and Jada Hart used two early breaks of serve for a 4-0 advantage on the top doubles court. Holds ensued the rest of the way and Forbes/Hart were first to finish, 6-2 over Sarah-Maude Fortin and Vanessa Wong. The Bruins are now 3-0 as a pair this year.

With Altick and Johnson locked in a back-and-forth affair on Court 3, Goulak and Vivian Wolff earned their second point-securing win in as many matches. The 6-2 victory over Gallagher and Yolanda Lin on Court 2 improved the record of Goulak/Wolff to 8-1 on the season.

After having her doubles match left unfinished, Altick raced through her singles contest with Zoey Weil on Court 4. Altick prevailed with a 6-3, 6-0 result that made the overall score 2-0. Goulak was right on Altick's heels, also surrendering just three total games in a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Tara Chilton on Court 5. Goulak has now won three singles matches in a row and sits at 7-2 for 2021.

Johnson made quick work of Lin in the first set on Court 6, but received a stiff challenge in the second. With the remaining matches destined for third sets, Johnson would not let hers get there. Her 6-2, 7-5 victory marked her first decider of the season.

Wolff charged back to split sets with Gallagher, who was ultimately able to get the Huskies on the board with a 10-4 result in their tiebreaker.

Two days after making her Court 3 debut, No. 113 Vagramov made her first appearance on Court 2. It was a slow start versus Fortin, but the sophomore quickly came into her own. Vagramov kept Fortin at bay the rest of the way, notching a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(6) win to move to 5-0.

The final match to finish was the one on the top court between No. 7 Forbes and No. 74 Wong. Wong was able to force a third set, but Forbes quickly established a cushion in the tiebreaker and was able to post a 6-3, 5-7, 1-0(6) win. Forbes is now 8-1 in singles play, with each of the results coming against a nationally-ranked opponent.

UCLA returns to action Friday, March 12, when it visits No. 4 Pepperdine for a non-conference match at Ralphs Straus Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m., PT.
