Mar 7, 2021

EUGENE, Ore. – Fresh off his third-place conference finish, Jackson Mestler has been selected to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The national meet is set for Monday, March 15, in Stillwater, Okla., with the men's 10K going off at 10:40 a.m. (PT).

The field for the NCAA Championships was announced Sunday morning on NCAA.com.

With Sunday's announcement, Mestler will be making his third-career appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The Eugene, Ore., native finished in 73rd place in both of his previous two national runs in 2018 and 2019.

Mestler ran to a third-place finish at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships this past Sunday in Washington. He navigated the 8K course in 22:54.7 on his way to the career-best finish at a conference meet. With the top-seven effort, he earned a spot on the all-conference first team. In his season debut, the UO standout won the Oregon XC Open (Feb. 5) in Eugene.

Mestler is a two-time NCAA West All-Region performer with a cross country 10K best of 29:58.5 from the 2019 NCAA regional meet where he was the Ducks' top finisher in sixth place.

For the first time since 2009, the NCAA Cross Country Championships will be televised live. This year's national meet will be broadcast by ESPNU and available through the ESPN app. The broadcast begins at 9:30 a.m.

The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be contested just two days following the NCAA Indoor meet (March 11-13). The Ducks collected 20 national indoor entries with 12 for the top-ranked Men of Oregon and eight for the Oregon women.
