Evan Mobley Named Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week
USC freshman forward Evan Mobley has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the week of March 1-7, it was announced by the Conference today (March 8). Mobley earned his seventh Freshman of the Week honor, extending his conference record.
Mobley led USC to a 79-42 home win against Stanford on March 3 and a 64-63 road win at UCLA to help the Trojans secure a second-place finish in the conference race. Mobley averaged 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks in the two victories.
Against Stanford, Mobley scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Trojans defeated the Cardinal by the biggest margin since also winning by 37 in the 2011 season. He led USC in scoring with 13 points and rebounding with 11 boards in the win at UCLA. picking up his Pac-12 leading 10th double of the season. He also had three blocks to give him 77 for the season, setting the USC freshman single-season record and moving into fourth on the all-time Pac-12 freshman blocks list.
Mobley just keeps adding on to his 2020-21 accolades which include being named to the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List, the 2021 NABC Player of the Year Watch List, the 2021 Naismith Trophy Watch List, a 2021 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award finalist, a Naismith Defensive Player of the Award Watch List finalist and being named to the 2020-21 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Preseason Media All-Conference First Team.
Through the first 27 games of his collegiate career Mobley is averaging 16.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.85 blocks per game. He is the only Division I player averaging at least 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocks.
