Mar 8, 2021

Pac-12 News Release

SAN FRANCISCO – USC lacrosse senior goalie Riley Hertford (Lake Oswego, Ore.) was chosen as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 1-7, the league announced on Monday, March 8. Arizona State's Carley Adams was named the Offensive Player of the Week.
Hertford receives her sixth-career Pac-12 weekly honor, which is most all-time by any player in conference history. She surpasses Darby Kiernan of Colorado (2015-18) who had five offensive awards in the Pac-12's inaugural season (2018).
Over the weekend, Hertford recorded her 24th career victory as the 18th-ranked Trojans (2-2) earned a 20-10 win over UC Davis. In just over 48 minutes between the pipes, Hertford faced 24 shots and posted 14 saves against the Aggies. She finished the day with three ground balls and a caused turnover. The 14 saves tied for fourth most in a single game in school history and mark the seventh time in her career that Hertford has had 10 saves or more in a game. Her career high is 17 against Stanford (March 25, 2019). Combined with sophomore goalie Delaney Sweitzer, the Trojans' 15 saves were fourth most in a single game in program history.
The Pac-12 is in its fourth season of women's lacrosse. Trojans have earned conference weekly honors 17 times (12 defensive and five offensive) to lead the league. Colorado is next with 16, followed by Stanford (14), Arizona State (9), Oregon (3), and California (1).
USC players have swept the weekly awards on four occasions. All-American midfielder Kerrigan Miller (2017-20) became the first player in league history to receive both the offensive (March 19, 2018) and defensive (March 11, 2019) awards in her career.
All home USC women's lacrosse competitions will be conducted in accordance with the Pac-12 COVID-19 Medical Advisory Committee health and safety recommendations and guidelines, available at For more information on the USC women's lacrosse team, a complete schedule, and results, please visit Fans of the Women of Troy can follow the team on Instagram and on Twitter @USCTrojansLax.
