Game Notes

SEATTLE - For the first time since the 2019 Super Regionals, the #8 Washington Huskies will play in Husky Softball Stadium, hosting the Husky Classic this weekend. Washington will play five games in total this weekend, against Seattle U and Portland State.

This will be the final weekend of non-conference games for the Huskies, who begin the Pac-12 slate next week when they host the Arizona Wildcats. Washington is 16-2 entering this weekend and on a six-game win streak.

Sami Reynolds drove in multiple runs in every game last weekend, with 11 RBI in three games. Her five RBI game on Sunday matched a career high and the 11 RBI were her most ever in a three-game span. The last Husky with more RBI in a three-game span was Kirstyn Thomas, who had 13 in early 2018. Reynolds now has 25 multi-RBI games in her career and eight this season. Reynolds is second in the Pac-12 in RBI, behind ASU's Maddi Hackbarth (29).

Noelle Hee had her second career multi-homer game, at Hawai'i last weekend. Hee has six hits this year: four of those have been home runs and all six have driven in at least one run. Six of Hee's last nine hits have been home runs. 22% of Hee's career hits have been home runs.

Sis Bates hit .700 last weekend to bring her season slash line to  .500/.563/.690. Bates leads the Pac-12 in batting average and is one of 14 players in the country hitting over .500 (min. 10 games). Since the beginning of the 2019 postseason, Bates has hit .496 across 42 games, with multiple hits in 23 games and just four hitless games. Bates needs just one hit to tie Taylor Van Zee for 8th in Washington history, two hits to tie Kimi Pohlman for 7th, and five to tie Rosie Leutzinger for 6th.

Gabbie Plain had her 25.2-inning scoreless streak snapped when she allowed a solo home run on Saturday. Plain has two scoreless streaks of 20+ innings this season and eight in her career. Only Jennifer Spediacci (10) has had more in Husky history. Plain has not allowed more than one hit in each of her last four appearances. She has allowed two or fewer hits in 10 of her 14 appearances in 2021. Her 112 strikeouts are 47 more than any other Pac-12 pitcher and third in the nation.

Five players in the Pac-12 have reached double-digit walks this season: three of those are from Washington, as Baylee Klingler, Kaija Gibson, and Morganne Flores have all drawn ten. Gibson has 11 fewer at-bats than any of those other players and 20 fewer plate appearances than Pac-12 walk leader Emily Young of Stanford. Washington has drawn at least one walk in every game this season. The last time Husky hitters did not draw at least one walk in a game was March 9, 2019, 82 games ago.

Madison Huskey had her second career multi-homer game, against Hawai'i. Huskey is the 18th Husky to have more than one multi-homer game in their career, having also done so on February 13 of this year. Huskey needs just one more home run and five more RBI to match her career-high totals from 2019, set in 48 games and 111 at-bats.

Over the last five games, Washington has allowed just two hits in the game's first four innings. The Huskies have not allowed a hit in the first inning for six straight games. The Huskies have scored in the first inning in three of the last four games and have outscored the opposition 16-4 in the first inning all season long.
