KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Washington State men's basketball senior Isaac Bonton has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 19 Second Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Bonton joined the likes of CJ Elleby (2020), Robert Franks (2019), and Josh Hawkinson (2017) as recent Cougs to earn all-district honors. The organization divides all Division I schools into 24 Districts with District 19 consisting of the Pac-12 schools.
A second team All-Pac-12 honoree, Bonton finished his season as the Cougs' top-scorer and ranked fourth in the district after posting 17.7 points per game. He finished off his season with a 19 point performance against Arizona State in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament. The double-digit performance was his 18th of the season while he just missed out on another 20+ point performance, something the Portland native did nine times on the year. In addition to his own scoring, Bonton finished the season fourth in the district in assists at 4.0 per game. He also was the district's best perimeter defender nabbing an impressive 2.0 steals per game, a mark which ranked 41st in the country.
Overall, Bonton led the Cougs to a 14-13 record, the team's first winning season since 2011-12. The Cougs picked up a handful of signature wins on the year including taking down Pac-12 regular season champ Oregon, 74-71, at Eugene for the first time since 2009, upsetting UCLA at Pullman for the second-straight season, and defeating tournament champion Oregon State, 59-55, to open Pac-12 play.
