Ducks Cruise Past Aztecs

Mar 22, 2021

SAN DIEGO – Oregon bounced back from Sunday's loss by dominating from start to finish against a short-handed San Diego State team in a 7-0 road win Monday.
How it Happened: The Ducks struck first – like they have in all but one match this season – by picking up the doubles point to go up 1-0. Janice Tjen and Lillian Mould stayed unbeaten on the season in doubles play, winning 6-1 at the No. 2 spot while Rifanty Kahfiani and Uxia Martinez Moral turned in a dominant victory of their own with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Oregon continued to roll in singles play, quickly putting up three more points to clinch the match. Julia Eshet won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 4 spot while Janice Tjen got back on the winning track with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the top spot. Uxia Martinez Moral took her match 6-1, 6-2 to put up the fourth point of the day.
Mould won a battle at the No. 2 spot against the Aztecs' Cecile Morin, going to a tiebreaker in both sets but coming away with a 7-6(2), 7-6(4) sweep victory. San Diego State played with just four available players and defaulted at the No. 3 doubles spot, in addition to the No. 5 and 6 singles positions.
