Johnson And Sherman On Center Stage At Pro Timing Day
BOULDER- All eyes were on defensive linemen Mustafa Johnson and offensive lineman William Sherman on Monday at Colorado's annual Pro Timing Day in the Indoor Practice Facility.
24 NFL scouts were in attendance representing 23 teams to watch Johnson and Sherman showcase their skills and athleticism in a series of testing drills and individual position workouts.
The day started in the weight room for measurables and then the bench press where Johnson and Sherman showed off their strength with 27 and 23 reps of 225 pounds, respectively.
The NFL hopefuls then moved to the field for a variety of tests including the vertical jump, which saw Johnson post a height of 29 inches, and the broad jump where Sherman soared nine feet.
Next it was time to display their speed where in the 40-yard dash Sherman recorded a time of 5.19 seconds. Johnson didn't take part in the 40-yard run as he is recovering from a minor hamstring injury, but showed his burst in a 1.76 second 10-yard sprint.
The two then went through agility tests in the pro shuttle and L-drill and wrapped things up with individual positional drills led by scouts.
Johnson and Sherman will be training and going through interviews from now up until the draft. The 2021 NFL Draft will take place from April 29th through May 1st.
Johnson On Having Sherman Beside Him
"It was very comforting to have a teammate with me just because of the whole COVID situation we didn't have our teammates there to cheer us on. It was comforting to have Will there with me and hearing him cheer me on and have me cheer him on. That definitely helped. There were like 30 people here just to look at me perform, look at my body, and analyze what I do. It was comforting to have Will there be an exciting to see him be successful."
Sherman On Adjusting To The NFL
"I am willing to adjust my play style to any team. I feel like in the three years that I've been playing I've learned three different playbooks. As far as schemes and stuff like that, I'm pretty versatile. I feel like regardless of who picks me I will be able to adjust to what their offensive line coach and offensive coordinator want."
