PAC-12 GRIND
When the Utes and Huskies (#18) take the field on Friday, it will be the sixth-straight Pac-12 opponent Utah has faced this season that is ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25. Washington State was #15 when it squared off with Utah in Pullman while Stanford and California checked in at No. 23 and No. 10, respectively, when they battled in the Bay Area. The Utes returned home to take on then-No. 14 USC followed by No. 3 UCLA.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Washington comes into this week 6-1-2 overall and 2-1-2 in Pac-12 play with its lone loss in league action coming against then-No. 21 Stanford 1-0. Utah leads the all-time series 6-7-0 and 4-2-0 when played in Salt Lake City. The Utes have won the last two meetings between the two teams, a 1-0 victory when the Huskies were ranked No. 21 in 2019 on the road and a 2-0 victory in 2018 at home.
LAST TIME OUT
Outside of Utah allowing the goal in the 6' of the game against Colorado last Saturday in a non-conference match-up, the Utes played well against a formidable Buffs team the rest of the way. Utah out-shot CU 21-14 but only had six shots on goal compared to Colorado's five. Utah also had plenty of set piece opportunities, taking seven corner kicks – five of which came in the second half – to Colorado's three. Chelsea Peterson picked up the loss in her third-straight start while SJ Edwards registered a clean sheet in the second half. Both finished with two saves apiece.
UP NEXT
Utah will hit the road the following week as it travels to the Pacific Northwest for a pair of matches. The Utes first face Oregon on Friday, April 2, before taking on Oregon State that Sunday, April 4.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Utes return home after its week in the PNW to host Arizona State (April 9) and Arizona (April 11). The Utah soccer program will also honor its seniors on Sunday, April 11.
