Bears Tied for 23rd After Opening Round

STANFORD, Calif. – California men's golf opened The Goodwin on Thursday where three Bears shot a 73 (+3) in the first 18 holes.
 
Junior James Song, senior Finigan Tilly and freshman Sampson Zheng are all currently tied for 63rd. All three finished Thursday's opening round at Stanford Golf Course with 73 (+3) strokes. Song and Tilly currently have three birdies apiece and the trio all birdied 16th hole. In fact, all four scorers recorded a birdie on the third-to-last hole. Redshirt junior Kyle Maspat is currently five strokes back (78, +8) of his teammates and is tied for 119th. He produced a pair of birdies on holes seven and 16.
 
The Bears will return to Stanford Golf Course on Friday. The first Bear to tee off will be freshman Aaron Du at 1:20pm. Cal will be paired with players from Colorado, UCLA and Saint Mary's.
