SEATTLE - On Wednesday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association updated its singles rankings for the first time since before the start of the season. Husky sophomore Clement Chidekh made his expected debut in the rankings, coming in at No. 83.
The native of Lyon, France has started his collegiate career with a 13-2 singles record. Based on the updated rankings, Chidekh has wins over No. 51 Nathan Ponwith of Arizona State, No. 67 Adrian Oetzbach of Pepperdine, and No. 73 Kody Pearson of Tulsa. His only losses came against No. 59 Jonas Ziverts of Arizona in a match where he held match points, and on Wednesday to Joseph Guillin of UCSB, who is currently unranked due to playing only a few matches but who has been ranked in the Top-10 in the past.
Chidekh and the Huskies wrap up a Spring Break road trip tomorrow with a road match at San Diego State at 2 p.m. The Huskies earned a 4-3 win over UCSB on Wednesday for their first road win of the season, coming back from 0-3 down.
