Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Johnnie Blockburger, Fr., ARIZONA (Tucson, Ariz)
- Ran an NCAA-leading 45.83 to win the 400-meter dash at the Willie Williams Classic on Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.
- The fifth-best 400 time in school history, Blockburger’s performance broke the Arizona freshman record in the event.
- Also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.13, which is tied for 17th in the country.

- Now eighth on USC’s all-time list in the event, Jones’ effort is the fastest in the NCAA this season.
- A 12-time Georgia state individual champion in high school, Jones’ prep best in the 100-meter hurdles was 13.19.

- Broke the Arizona State outdoor discus record with a throw of 64.23 meters (210-9) on his final throw at Arizona’s Willie Williams Classic over the weekend.
- Washington’s mark currently leads the NCAA by more than 10 feet and garnered him National Athlete of the Week honors on Monday from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), a first for a male athlete during the outdoor season in Arizona State history.

- Earned bronze in the discus at the 2019 European U23 Throwing Cup with a mark of 55.86 meters.
- Finished third in the shot put at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships with a throw of 17.56 meters (57-7.5).
