Cal Ends Road Stretch At No. 17/18 Stanford Friday

Cal takes on Stanford on Friday afternoon in the first meeting between the teams since 2019.

CAL-STANFORD HISTORY
— Cal faces its Pac-12 and Bay Area rival for the first time during the 2021 season with their most recent matchup on April 19, 2019
— The teams did not meet during the 2020 campaign shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic
— Stanford holds a 30-2 lead in the all-time series and has won 27 straight
— Cal won the first time the teams played by a 9-7 score on Feb. 20, 1999, and then was victorious again the next season on April 22, 2020, by an 8-7 count, with both victories in Berkeley 
— Stanford has won all 14 meetings between the teams played on The Farm 

RECENT ACTION: GOLDEN BEARS DROP FOURTH STRAIGHT MONDAY AT COLORADO
— Cal lost its fourth straight contest to open its Pac-12 schedule with a 15-5 loss at Colorado on Monday in its most recent action after earlier conference defeats against USC (18-10) and Arizona State (21-11) at home, and on the road at Oregon (14-9)

STANFORD SECOND RANKED OPPONENT THIS SEASON 
— Cal will face a ranked opponent for the second time this season at No. 17/18 Stanford on Friday
— Cal dropped an 18-10 decision to USC in its other game against a ranked team on March 12  

DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT BUT SCORING STRUGGLES CONTINUE
— After allowing a combined 39 goals against USC (18) and Arizona State (21), the Bears held Oregon (14) and Colorado (15) to a combined 29 goals in its most recent two games but managed to score only a combined 14 and are averaging a Pac-12 low 9.7 goals per contest   

STRONG DRAW CONTROL PLAY
— Cal has a 98-88 advantage over its opponents in draw control this season and has won the draw control battle in five of its first seven contests vs. San Diego State (14-12), at Fresno State (17-11), vs. Arizona State (20-14), at Oregon (13-12) and at Colorado (11-10)
— LizaBanks Campagna leads Cal and ranks third in the Pac-12 with 38 draw controls, while also leading the team in ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (18)

— Cal has nine players that have started each of the team's first seven games in 2021 in LizaBanks Campagna, Riley Drullinger, Kamryn Lanier, Joanna Levin, Marisa Kuberra, Quinnlyn Mason, Marina Smith, Ashley Ward and Nikki Zaccaro

LEADING SCORER QUINNLYN MASON'S MULTIPLE GOALS STREAK ENDS
— Quinnlyn Mason had scored at least two goals in 11 straight games including the final six contests of 2020 and first five of 2021 before being held without a goal at Oregon on Saturday
— Mason remains Cal's leading scorer with 18 points on a team-high 15 goals and three assists, while she is followed closely by Nikki Zaccaro (16 points - 9 goals, team-high 7 assists), Marisa Kuberra (15 points - 11 goals, 4 assists),and Megan Mix (13 points - 10 goals, 3 assists)
— Mason is also Cal's leader in game-winning goals (1), free position goals (6) and free position attempts (10), as well as its co-leader in shots on goal (22)   

ZACCARO GOES OVER 100 CAREER-POINT MARK
— Nikki Zaccaro became the first player on Cal's current roster with 100 career points when she reached the mark against Arizona State on March 14 and now has 106 (45 G, 61 A) in 51 games  

UP NEXT: CAL HOSTS FRESNO STATE THIS SUNDAY
— Cal's lone victory of the 2021 season came on the road March 5 against its next opponent Fresno State, who the Bears host on Sunday at California Memorial Stadium
— Cal was a 14-12 winner at Fresno State as goalkeeper Riley Drullinger recorded a career-high 14 saves, LizaBanks Campagna (8) and Marisa Kuberra (7) combined for 15 draw controls, and Quinnlyn Mason led the way offensively with a career-high-tying four goals
