USC Women’s Tennis Falls to Oregon

EUGENE, Ore.--The No. 38 USC women's tennis team fell to Oregon 5-2 today (Mar. 26) in Eugene, Ore. The Women of Troy now hold a 9-6 overall record and a 3-2 Pac-12 record for the 2021 season. 
 
Oregon made the first move in doubles as Kahfiani/Martinez Moral defeated USC's Cayetano/Kulikov 6-3 on court one. Over on court three, the Duck pair of Eshet/Mulville beat Trojan tandem Dvorak /Willson 6-3 to claim the doubles point. Although Oregon had already won the doubles point, court two was played out where Trojans Ewing/McKee defeated Tjen/Mould 6-4. 
 
Oregon continued to roll with the momentum from singles, and Janice Tjen scored the second point for the Ducks with her 6-3, 6-3 win over USC sophomore No. 91 Eryn Cayetano on court one. Trojan junior Danielle Willson fell 6-2, 6-2 on court four to Oregon's Uxia Martinez Moral to push the Ducks ahead 3-0. 
 
USC junior No. 122 Salma Ewing shined for the Trojans with her 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-1 win over Oregon's Lillian Mould on court two. 
 
Duck Julia Eshet clinched the match for Oregon by defeating USC redshirt senior Clare McKee 7-6 (4), 7-5 on court six. 
 
Although the match was clinched, the remaining courts were played out. Trojan redshirt senior Summer Dvorak fell 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to Duck Ares Teixido Garcia on court five. USC freshman No. 62 Naomi Cheong scored the final point of the match by defeating Oregon's Rifanty Kahfiani 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 on court three to make the final score 5-2. 
 
The Trojans now turn their attention to a road trip to the desert. The Women of Troy will face Arizona on Friday, Apr. 2 at 1:30 p.m. PT and Arizona State on Saturday, Apr. 3 at 12 p.m. PT.
