Wilson, Paltrinieri Top 10 After Day One in Phoenix
PHOENIX - Sophomores Annabel Wilson and Emilie Paltrinieri both shot under par on day one of the PING/ASU Invitational, as each are inside the Top 10 after 18 holes at the Papago Golf Course. As a team, the Bruins are 11th following a 7-over 295 on Friday.
Wilson is tied for fifth after a 2-under 70. In a five-hole stretch, she had an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole and three birdies on the par-12 fourth and par-3 eighth and 11th, adding another birdie on the par-5 15th and four bogeys.
Paltrinieri is tied for ninth, shooting a 1-under 71 in her opening round. She had a stretch of four birdies in five holes on the par-5 ninth and 10th, the par-4 sixth and par-3 eighth to go with three bogeys.
Sophomores Emma Spitz and Yuki Yoshihara are both tied for 63rd (+5, 77). Spitz made her lone birdie on the par-5 15th hole and six bogeys. Yoshihara had a birdie on the par-5 ninth, four bogeys and a double. Junior Phoebe Yue (T-81, +9, 81) made a birdie on the par-4 seventh hole, eight bogeys and a double.
The Bruins begin round two on Saturday at 8 a.m. off the 10th tee in the order of Yue, Yoshihara, Spitz, Paltrinieri and Wilson. Live scoring will be available here.
