SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Arizona Track and Field wrapped up their second meet of the outdoor season on Saturday in San Diego, picking up additional top NCAA marks and times. The Cats tallied five event wins over the two-day competition.
Highlights
Johnnie Blockburger, the Pac-12 Men's Track Athlete of the Week, led the men's 100m crew with a time of 10.28. His time ranks seventh in the NCAA and fourth in school history. Trent Stimac clocked a PR of 10.50 to finish fifth followed by Trevor Volpe in seventh with a PR of 10.51. On the women's side, Neysia Howard ran a PR time of 11.62, which ties the eighth best time on Arizona's all-time list.
The men's 4x400m relay squad of Blockburger, Calvin Wilson, Isaac Davis and Umajesty Williams got a big win with a time of 3:06.49, giving them the second best time in the NCAA and sixth best in school history. The women's relay team finished third with a time of 3:40.12.
The Wildcats swept the discus throw with Samantha Noennig and Jakob Chamberlin picking up wins in the event. Noennig threw for a mark of 54.62m (179-2), giving her the 10th best mark in the country and ninth best for Arizona. Chamberlin threw a PR of 54.51m (178-10).
Calvin Wilson won the men's 400m dash, clocking 46.63, good for a PR. On the women's side, Shannon Meisberger placed second with a time of 53.89 and Gracie Reinholz picked up a PR.
The men's 4x100m relay team finished third with a time of 39.82, the seventh best in the NCAA. Volpe, Blockburger, Stimac and Williams ran for the Wildcats.
Alyssa Blockburger placed third in the women's 800m, clocking 2:10.90. For the men, Tanner Hagstrom finished fourth with a time of 1:51.59.
Skylar Sieben ran a time of 14.19 in the 100m hurdles, good for a PR and a top 10 finish.
In the women's 200m, Howard clocked 24.27 and Reinholz picked up another PR. On the men's side, Trevor Volpe ran a time of 21.50 to finish ninth.
Katie Daily took fifth in the pole vault, clearing an outdoor PR of 3.92m (12-10.25).
On Friday, Israel Oloyede won the men's hammer throw with a PR mark of 69.20m (227-0), giving him the second best throw in the NCAA and third best in school history.
