Arizona's Weekend Ends in Eighth Place at ASU Invitational
PHOENIX, Ariz. – After consecutive rounds battling a challenging course, No. 17 Arizona Women's Golf faltered in their third and final round of the PING/ASU Invitational, finishing the tournament in eighth place at 12-over par. The Wildcats' find round score of 7-over par was a six-stroke slide from its 1-over effort the day before.
"We unfortunately were not able to make a move up the leaderboard today, but we will grow from this tournament," said head coach Laura Ianello. "This weekend was a challenging event against a lot of good teams. We've got a tournament in California before the Pac-12 Championships, so we will get a good week of practice in and show we have grown from this when we tee off at the Silverado Showdown."
Yu-Sang Hou was the top individual finisher for Arizona in Phoenix this weekend, finishing in the top 20 at 1-over par. This weekend's event marked the 21st time in her career that Hou has posted a top-20 finish.
Sophomore Gile Bite Starkue, courtesy of her career-low round on Saturday, gave the Wildcats a second top-30 finish.
Arizona returns to action at the Silverado Showdown, co-hosted by Oregon and Colorado, at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California on Monday, April 5.
