Strong Senior Day Showing

STANFORD, Calif. – Hosting University of Incarnate Word on Friday and Saturday from Avery Aquatic Center, Stanford turned in a solid showing in its final prep for the U.S. Collegiate Nationals, defeating UIW 102-86.

Senior Jacklyn Luu finished first in the Tech A elements with a score of 82.2244. Freshman Emmanuella Tchakmakjian took second at 80.6571, followed closely by senior Caitlin Klauer at 80.4455 as the Cardinal earned the top three spots in the competition. Junior Alexandra Suarez also finished in the top five, taking fifth with a score of 78.1827.

Luu also earned a first-place finish in the solo competition, registering a mark of 83.9333 to top UIW's Natalia Vega at 82.1000. Vega had edged Luu in the last competition between the two in San Antonio earlier this month.

Tchakmakjian and Luu teamed in the duet to capture top honors with a score of 82.1000. The duo earned a share of first place at UIW two weeks ago. Stanford's pair of Klauer and Suarez finished second at 79.5333, while sophomore Emily Brieant and freshman Natalie Greenfield placed fourth with a score of 74.7333.

The Cardinal entered three teams in the trio, with sophomore Hailee Heinrich, Klauer and sophomore Audrey Nguyen earning first place with a score of 83.5667. Junior Grace Alwan, sophomore Ava Jih-Schiff and Suarez nabbed second with a mark of 81.0000, while senior Sophia Susac, junior Sabrina Walsh and Greenfield managed a third-place finish with a score of 78.2667.

In the team competition, Stanford's lineup of Alwan, Heinrich, Jih-Schiff, Klauer, Luu, Nguyen, Suarez and Tchakmakjian combined to post an 80.2000 to top a pair of entries from Incarnate Word – the closest team score from UIW being a 76.1333.

Prior to the competition on Saturday, Stanford honored its senior class of Klauer, Luu and Susac.

Stanford will now prepare to host the U.S. Collegiate Nationals from April 16-17. The competition will feature Stanford, Ohio State and Incarnate Word.
