FIRST PITCH
Utah continues Pac-12 play on the road as it travels to Corvallis, Oregon to take on the Oregon State Beavers.
Utah got a win on Sunday against Cal moving its record to 5-13 on the season. Oregon State has been hot with an 18-5 record on the year and is 5-1 in conference play. They're coming off a weekend where they swept Washington in Seattle.
The Utes have played one other Pac-12 series on the road against Stanford and went 1-2. They have been 1-2 in both of the Pac-12 series making their conference record 2-4.
The last time Utah travelled to Corvallis, the Beavers swept them at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
RICHARDSON SPARKS OFFENSE
Matt Richardson has been on fire since the beginning of Pac-12 play.
Over the last two weeks, he has hit .565 and raised his season average to a team-leading .340. In the seven games, he has scored eight runs and knocked in five RBI.
Batting in the nine hole, he is 13-23 at the plate with one walk. Along with constantly being on base, he has a .652 slugging percentage.
WATSON HAS BEST START OF SEASON
On Sunday Utah needed a big start and got one from David Watson. He pitched 7.0 innings only allowing one run earning the win over Cal.
It was the longest outing he's had this season and matched the team's longest outing of seven innings. Watson also set a season high with four strikeouts.
The outing allowed Utah to build a lead and win the series finale against Cal 11-4. The 11 runs scored by Utah is the most they've scored this season.
KIERNAN STEADY AT THE PLATE
Jayden Kiernan has been steady at the plate all season and is second on the team hitting .324.
The catcher has started in every game at either catcher or first and has seven RBI and four doubles.
He has hits in 15 of the 18 games this season.
