Nairne, Milligan Earn Pac-12 Weekly Honors

Mar 31, 2021

EUGENE, Ore. – On the strength of their standout performances at the SDSU Aztec Invitational, Xavier Nairne and Ben Milligan have been recognized as the Pac-12 Track and Field Athlete of the Week, respectively. This is the first time since 2016 for the Ducks to sweep both men's honors (Devon Allen, Cody Danielson) in the same week.

In his first of three events in San Diego, Nairne anchored Oregon's 4x100-meter relay to victory in 39.02 which ranks four in UO history and fifth in the NCAA this season. The Ducks' relay also featured Micah Williams, Gaston Bouchereau and Rieker Daniel.

Nairne returned to the track to post a winning time of 10.20 in the 100 meters, a mark that currently leads the Pac-12, ranks sixth nationally, puts him at No. 6 on the all-time UO list and broke the 38-year-old meet record. The Kingston, Jamaica, native capped this day with a time of 20.73 to finish third in the 200 meters.

In his first outdoor meet since the 2018 NCAA Championships, Milligan produced an NCAA-leading 2.25m/7-4.5 clearance to win the high jump. The Portland, Ore., moved to No. 2 on the Oregon top-10 list and now sits just a half inch off the school record of 2.26m/7-5 set by Jason Boness in 2000.

Milligan entered the meet with an outdoor best of 2.20m/7-2.5 from the 2018 OSU High Performance meet. He is the Ducks' first Pac-12 Field Athlete of the Week since Danielson in 2016.
