Last Regular Season Road Trip Hits Boulder, SLC
THIS WEEK IN HUSKY WOMEN'S TENNIS
Friday, April 2 | Boulder, Colo.
Washington at Colorado, 12:30 pm PT
SEATTLE - The final regular season road trip takes the Huskies up to Boulder, Colo. and Salt Lake City, Utah this week as Washington looks to spark a win streak with just four matches left before postseason play. The Huskies (9-6, 1-5 Pac-12) face Colorado first on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Pacific time before heading to take on the Utes on Sunday at 10 a.m. Pacific.
The Dawgs are coming off a 4-3 near-miss at No. 25 Cal last week and then a 6-1 loss to undefeated Stanford. For the first time since the start of team rankings, the Huskies slipped out of the top-50, so UW will need to grab some wins here in the stretch run to get into the mix for an NCAA tourney spot.
Colorado is 1-4 in conference play and 7-8 overall, but the Buffs opened their Pac-12 schedule with a big 4-3 upset over California, however they have since lost their last six in a row. Sara Nayar has gone 6-8 at the No. 1 singles spot for the Buffaloes. Sophia Derivan is 7-3 at No. 2 singles and Megan Forster has gone 6-1 at the No. 4 spot. Last year, the dual with Colorado was the last one the Huskies played before the rest of the season was canceled. The Huskies earned a 4-2 win that day in Seattle.
Utah also heads into the weekend with a 7-8 record, having gone 0-5 thus far in conference, with the closest match a 3-4 loss at Oregon. The Huskies had a 4-1 win over the Utes in Seattle a year ago. Junior Madeline Lamoreaux is 4-7 at the No. 1 singles spot for the Utes. Anya Lamoreaux is a team-best 8-5 in dual matches with a 6-4 mark at No. 5
