Olivia Mehaffey and Linn Grant Advance to Augusta

Apr 2, 2021

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Two members of Sun Devil Women's Golf will have the opportunity to play a round at the iconic Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday April 3.

By virtue of making the cut after two rounds at Champions Retreat Golf Club, Olivia Mehaffey and Linn Grant advanced in the Augusta national Women's Amateur. Mehaffey (E/144) is tied for third, while Grant (+2/146) is not far behind in a tie for eighth.

Mehaffey shot a championship-low 69 on Thursday to clinch her spot above the cut line. Grant opened the event with a 70 to end in a tie for first after one round and has proved why she is the No. 2-ranked female amateur golfer in the world.

The Sun Devil duo are two of only 30 golfers to advance to play the famed Augusta National Golf Club in one final round, which will be broadcast live on NBC from 9am - 12 p.m. ET. NBC's final-round coverage will also be simulcast on ANWAgolf.com.

Both Sun Devils are within striking distance at one of the most prestigious amateur events in female golf. Rose Zhang and Ingrid Lindblad lead the event, holding only one stroke lead over Olivia Mehaffey and three stroke advantage over Grant. The final round will tee-off tomorrow morning, with Grant starting her day at 6:50 am MST. Olivia Mehaffey follows immediately after at 7:10 am MST, with coverage of the end of their rounds broadcasted on NBC.

An incredible 36 of the golfers in the 2021 field are ranked inside the top 50 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking as of March 30, including 21 of the top 25 ranked players in the world. In total, 25 different countries are represented at the 2021 ANWA. Despite the heavy competition from all over the world, the Sun Devils are two of 30 with a chance to make history.
