Apr 3, 2021

LOS ANGELES – The Washington men's tennis squad fell to No. 36 UCLA, 7-0, Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

Washington sent out the same lineup that it did one day earlier at USC, which featured some changes to what had previously been the customary doubles roster. Saturday vs. the Bruins, the UW's No. 1 doubles team of Thibault Cancel and Jack Davis, plus the No. 2 UW duo of Clement Chidekh and Alexis Alvarez, played tight matches vs. their Bruins opponents.

But, down 4-3 each, both dropped the eighth game to UCLA and the Bruins went on to earn the doubles point thanks to a 6-3 win in the No. 1 spot, having already won the No. 3.

In singles, Han-Chih Lin was the lone UW player to win a set. winning the opener 6-3, but he dropped the second, 6-4, before falling in a third-set, super tie-break, 10-7. The Bruins had already clinched the team victory with wins in the Nos. 6, 2 and 1 spots.

Next for Washington are three straight home matches to wrap up the regular season. First up is Oregon, next Saturday, April 10, in Seattle.
