Women of Utah Close Out Weekend at Hayward Premiere

EUGENE, Ore. – The Utah track & field team closed out a great weekend in Eugene, Ore., this Saturday, setting new PRs and broke in the all-time record books at both the Hayward Premiere and NW Distance Jamboree.
 
The second day of competition at Hayward Field saw the 800m crew kick things off with Whitney Hessler leading the group of Utes with the fourth-best time of the meet with a 2:08.23 – her second-fastest time. Sarah Newton was the next fastest finisher for Utah, clocking in at 2:08.50 while Brooklyn James registered with a time of 2:08.99 – which was also her second-fastest time. Jasie York rounded out the list of Utes racing in the 800m and crossed the line at 2:13.21.

 
Jackie Martin took second in a small 400m dash race, finishing at 56.46. In the women's 800m invitational, Brooke Manson ran the second-fastest time this season with a time of 2:07.68. Ruby Jane Mathewson and Bailey Kealamakia came in one right after the other with Mathewson (1:03.48) getting the lean on Kealamakia – who set yet another PR with her mark of 1:03.48.
 
Maya LeBar had a great 200m race on Saturday, clocking in at 24.55 and moved into fourth all-time – passing former teammate Kolbi Sims (24.60). The 4x400m crew of Oneillia Fuller, Lauren O'Banion, Skyler Blair and Jackie Martin took second with a time of 3:43.85.
 
Over at Titan Stadium at the NW Distance Jamboree, Sara Leonard crushed her previous 5K PR time of 17:39.73 Saturday, finishing with a time of 17:11.89 for sixth. Meanwhile, Karli Branch closed out the weekend for Utah with a time of 17:35.46 in her first 5k race.
