Bruins Lead After Round One of Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. - Thanks to under-par rounds from sophomores Yuki Yoshihara and Emma Spitz, the Bruins lead after 18 holes of the Silverado Showdown. UCLA was the lone team to not be over par on Monday, shooting an even-par 288 at the Silverado Resort. The Bruins are up two strokes on Washington and three on USC and Oregon State.

Yoshihara is tied for third after a 2-under 70, three shots back of the individual lead. She made six birdies on the par-5 18th and fifth holes and the par-4 14th, 17th, fourth and eighth, adding four bogeys.

Spitz is tied for sixth following a 1-under 71. She opened her round with three consecutive birdies on the par-4 10th, par-3 11th and par-4 12th holes. The sophomore added birdies on the par-5 ninth and par-4 third, two bogeys and a double.

Sophomore Annabel Wilson is tied for 13th (+1, 73). She made a pair of birdies on the par-4 fourth and par-3 15th holes and three bogeys. Sophomore Emilie Paltrinieri is tied for 21st (+2, 74), recording a pair of birdies on the par-5 16th and par-4 13th holes and four bogeys. Junior Simar Singh, playing as an individual, is tied for 47th (+5, 77) after making four birdies on the par-5 16th and par-4 14th, fourth and sixth holes, four bogeys, a double and a triple. Sophomore Phoebe Yue is tied for 55th (+6, 78), notching two birdies on the par-5 16th and par-3 seventh holes, six bogeys and a double.

The Bruins begin round two on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Yue, Paltrinieri, Wilson, Spitz and Yoshihara. Singh starts on the 10th hole at 8:18 a.m. Live scoring will be available here.
