Grozier, Lisella Named Pac-12 Players of the Week

Sadie Grozier and Julia Lisella have been named the Pac-12 Players of the Week

BOULDER — After helping the Buffaloes avenge a pair of losses to USC and Arizona State, seniors Sadie Grozier and Julia Lisella have been named the Pac-12 Conference Lacrosse Players of the Week.
 
Grozier, an attacker, was selected the offensive player of the week, while Lisella, a goalkeeper, was tabbed the defensive player of the week. Both played key roles as CU defeated the Trojans, 13-11, on April 2, and the Sun Devils, 15-11, on April 4; both at CU's Kittredge Field.
 
The wins came exactly one week after the Buffs fell to each as the second half of conference play started on April 2.
 
Grozier, a Pleasanton, Calif. native, recorded nine goals and two assists for 11 points in the two contents. Four of her nine goals were free-position goals as she converted on 50.0% of her attempts (4-8).
 
She tied a career-high five goals against USC. Her assist on Chloe Willard's goal, which was the seventh goal for CU and sparked a 7-0 run to lift the Buffs over USC. She tied a career-high six points in the win. All eight of Grozier's shots against the Trojans were on goal (100%) and she added one ground ball and one caused turnover.
 
In the home finale against ASU, she recorded four goals and one assist for five points. She converted on three of her six free-position opportunities and placed eight of her nine shots on goal (88.9%).
 
Lisella, a Littleton, Colo. native, was consistent and helped the Buffs to a pair of wins with a solid defensive performance in goal. She allowed 11 goals in each game while averaging a 50.0% save percentage. She made 13 saves on 28 shots against USC on April 2, including two in the final seven minutes of the game when the Buffs led by one goal (12-11). On April 4 versus ASU, Lisella made nine saves on 26 shots. She also contributed six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
This is the third Pac-12 Player of the Week honor for Lisella, while it's the first for Grozier.
 
Colorado is 5-5 overall and 3-3 in Pac-12 play. Its game against league-leader and No. 15 Stanford (6-0, 4-0) has been canceled due to COVID-19-related issues and contact tracing within the Cardinal program. The Buffaloes are still scheduled to play California (2-9, 0-5) on Sunday, April 11 at 3 p.m. MT in Berkeley, Calif. at California Memorial Stadium.
