Bruins Place Second at Silverado Showdown
NAPA, Calif. - Sophomores Emma Spitz, Yuki Yoshihara and Annabel Wilson all placed inside the Top 5, as UCLA finished second at the Silverado Showdown. The Bruins posted a score of 3-over 291 on Wednesday at the Silverado Resort to finish at 4-over 868 for the tournament.
Spitz and Yoshihara each tied for third at 2-under 214. Yoshihara shot an even-par 72 on Wednesday on five birdies on the par-5 16th and 18th holes and par-4 fourth, 10th and 13th to go with two bogeys and a triple.
Spitz recorded a 1-over 73 on three birdies on the par-5 18th, par-4 17th and par-3 11th holes with four bogeys.
Wilson fired a 2-under 70 in her final round to finish tied for fifth at even-par 216. She made six birdies on the par-5 fifth and par-4 fourth, sixth, 10th, 12th and 17th holes to go with two bogeys and a double. Sophomore Emilie Paltrinieri tied for 24th (+8, 224), making two birdies on the par-5 fifth and par-4 17th holes and six bogeys in a 4-over 76. Junior Simar Singh, playing as an individual, tied for 31st (+11, 227), notching back-to-back birdies on the par-4 12th and 13th holes and three bogeys in a 1-over 73. Junior Phoebe Yue was 71st (+28, 244), posting a birdie on the par-4 10th, seven bogeys and four doubles (+14, 86).
The regular season is over for the Bruins, who gear up for the postseason, which begins April 23-25 at the Pac-12 Championships at the Stanford Golf Course.
