Sieben in Second Place Heading into Day Two of Multis

TUCSON, Ariz. – Dominic Gehr, Skylar Sieben and Abby Walls closed out day one of the Jim Click Shootout Multis on Thursday. Picking up three PRs and one event win, Sieben leads the Wildcats currently in second in the heptathlon going into day two.

Sieben kicked off the meet with three straight PRs in the 100m hurdles, high jump and shot put, giving her a PR day one heptathlon score. She clocked a time of 14.14 to finish seventh in the 100m hurdles, scoring 959 points. In the high jump, she cleared 1.69m (5-6.5), good for a fourth place finish and 842 points. She won the shot put contest with a throw of 12.14m (39-10), improving her personal best from the 2020 season. She closed out the day in the 200m dash, clocking 24.95 to finish fourth. Heading into day two, Sieben sits in second place with a score of 3,362. She is currently 154 points out of first place.

Competing in the decathlon, Gehr picked up a season-best mark in the long jump, finishing eighth. His highest scoring event was the high jump, finishing fifth and adding 749 points. He also picked up a PR in the 400m dash, the last event of the day. Gehr currently sits in 12th place with a score of 3,454. 

After making her multis debut, Walls will head into Friday's heptathlon events in 13th place with a score of 2,351. Her highest scoring event of the day was the high jump where she finished 11th and tallied 701 points.

Gehr will open up Friday's events at 10:00 a.m. in the decathlon 110m hurdles. Sieben and Walls will follow at 11:30 a.m. with the heptathlon long jump.
