Huskies Triumph 2-0 In Pitcher's Duel
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The #6 Washington Huskies started the weekend with a pitcher's-duel win, beating the Oregon State Beavers 2-0 Friday. Gabbie Plain flummoxed the Beaver offense all game long, striking out 12 and allowing just three baserunners in the game. Sis Bates scored both runs for the Huskies, with Baylee Klingler and Sami Reynolds picking up RBI.
The win extends Washington's winning streak to seven games, all against Pac-12 opponents. Washington is 29-4 overall and 7-2 in Pac-12 play after today's win.
Plain was as dominant as ever today, recording her 11th double-digit strikeout game of the year and breaking the 200-strikeout mark for the season. Not a single Beaver advanced into scoring position all game long. Plain would not allow a hit after the fourth inning.
The Huskies would take the lead in the second at-bat of the game on a Klingler RBI double. That came after a Bates stolen base, one of Washington's three steals in three attempts. Megan Vandegrift had one steal, with Bates recording her fourth multi-steal game of 2021.
