No. 19 USC Women's Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw at Stanford
PALO ALTO, Calif. – The No. 19 USC women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw at Stanford on Friday afternoon in a Pac-12 matchup.
USC moves to 6-3-2 overall and 5-3-1 in Pac-12 play, while Stanford moves to 5-5-2, 4-3-1.
The teams played mostly even through the first 90 minutes of play, but in overtime, it was all Trojans as USC outshot the Cardinal 6-0 in the final 20 minutes. Penelope Hocking put one off the crossbar near the end of the first overtime, and Tara McKeown and Croix Bethune each had dangerous chances late in the second OT.
Kaylie Collins made all four saves necessary to pick up her fourth straight shutout, making three saves in the first half and one in the second. The Trojan defense has not allowed a goal since March 18 at UCLA.
USC also had a 7-4 corner kick advantage, winning three corners in the two overtimes to just one for Stanford.
The Trojans stay on the road this weekend, heading to Cal for a 1:45 p.m. matchup on Sunday. That game will be streamed live on Pac-12+ via CalBears.com.
