Plain Earns Fourth Pac-12 Pitcher Of The Week

Apr 12, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO - For the fourth time this year, Gabbie Plain was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week. This was Plain's tenth career weekly honor from the Pac-12 and seventh Pitcher of the Week honor in her career.

Plain was excellent in three appearances against Oregon State, allowing just three baserunners to reach scoring position in her 20 innings of work. Plain started the weekend with her 29th career shutout, then carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in her second start. Plain finished the weekend with 6.0 scoreless innings of relief on Sunday, allowing only one hit.

Plain joins Danielle Lawrie as the only Huskies ever to earn ten or more weekly awards from the Pac-12. Her four Pitcher of the Week awards are the most in a single season for a Husky since Lawrie's record eight such awards in 2010. The national leader in strikeouts, Plain recorded her 11th and 12th double-digit strikeout games of the season last weekend. She is now 20-0 on the season, the first Husky ever to start 20-0. Plain is undefeated in her last 23 starts, stretching to February of 2020.

This week, the Huskies host the Oregon Ducks for a four-game series at Husky Softball Stadium. That series begins Friday, April 16 at 5:00 pm, with that game streamed free via the Washington live stream. The final three games of the series will be aired on the Pac-12 Network.
