Forbes Named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week
LOS ANGELES – Abbey Forbes from UCLA Women's Tennis has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, earning honors for April 6 – April 12.
Forbes went 4-0 across her singles and doubles matches as the Bruins emphatically claimed the first outright Pac-12 regular-season championship in program history with 7-0 wins against both Stanford and California. Forbes knocked off a pair of top-50 singles opponents, dealing No. 48 Michaela Gordon of the Cardinal (6-2, 6-4) and No. 41 Haley Giavara of the Golden Bears (6-2, 6-0) straight-set losses. She is now 12-1 versus nationally-ranked singles opponents and 15-1 overall. In doubles play, Forbes and Jada Hart improved their record to 7-1 with triumphs over Gordon/Niluka Madurawe of Stanford (6-2) and Giavara/Valentina Ivanov of Cal (6-1). Each of the resounding victories came on the top court.
This is the first-career Student-Athlete of the Week honor for Forbes.
