Apr 16, 2021

LOS ANGELES – The Utah baseball team dropped its series opener against UCLA 20-0 on Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Utes totaled seven hits in the game struggling to get much going on offense. Chase Fernlund had a double in the fifth with the other hits being singles.

The Bruins had a big night at the plate scoring runs in the third through sixth inning to build their lead. In the third they scored four and then followed that up by scoring seven in the fifth to put the game out of reach for good.

Justin Kelly got the start for Utah. The Utes also used Josh Giffins and Ian MacIver on the mound for the night.

Kyle Robeniol will be on the mound for Utah as they look to bounce back against UCLA. The game is at 3 p.m. MT.
