Baseball Falls to UCLA in the Second Game of the Series
LOS ANGELES – Utah baseball dropped the second game of the series to UCLA 13-3 at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday.
Jaylon McLaughlin led the Utes by going 2-3 with a walk and scored a run. Kai Roberts and Shea Kramer both had an RBI. Kramer also scored a run after his double in the seventh inning.
Trailing 4-0 heading into the sixth, the Utes got some offense going. McLaughlin started the inning by singling to center. After he advanced to second on a balk, Roberts singled to score McLaughlin and get the Utes on the board only trailing 4-1.
UCLA responded in the bottom half of the sixth to score seven runs to go up 11-1. Utah got a couple runs back in the seventh, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Kyle Robeniol got the start for Utah and pitched 5.0 innings giving up four runs on seven hits. Randon Hostert and Dustyn Schramm pitched the rest of the way.
The final game of the series will be on Sunday at 2 p.m. MT at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
