T&F Racks Up Wins at Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Washington State University Track and Field program saw yet another successful trip up north as the Cougars came away with multiple victories at Spokane.

Leading the Washington State women's squad at Spokane was Lauren Newman who took home first place in the long jump with a mark of 19-feet 4 inches (5.89m). Fellow Coug Anna Rodgers placed second in the long jump as well behind Newman with a jump of 19-feet 3/4 inches (5.81m). Giovanna Rhoads went on to win the high jump event with season-best clearance of 5-feet 3 1/4 inches (1.61m). Skyler Walton posted a victory in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.80. Samantha Boyle recorded a personal best in the 5000-meter, finishing with an overall time of 18:16.98. WSU saw yet another win on the day from Elise Unruh-Thomas as she took first place in the 200-meter dash at 24.73.

Anchoring the Cougar men was John Kolb who placed first overall in the discus throw with a mark of 170-feet 7 inches (52.01m). Joseph Jensen turned in a third-place finish in the discus as well, posting a mark of 153-feet 7 inches (46.81m). Daylon Hicks posted a personal-best in the high jump of 6-feet 7 3/4 inches (2.03m) to earn another win for the Cougs. RayRay Wells Jr. and Ja'Maun Charles went first and second in the 100-meter dash as Wells posted a season-best time of 10.34, and Charles with a personal best of 10.40. The WSU men continued picking up the victories, as Nick Johnson won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.14 overall. The 4x100-meter relay team of Sam Brixey, RayRay Wells Jr., Ja'Maun Charles, and Blake Deringer took first with ease in the event, running an overall time of 40.65.
