Garcia Named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week
LOS ANGELES – Rachel Garcia from UCLA Softball has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, earning honors for April 13 – April 19.
Garcia threw the second no-hitter of her career and the 115th in UCLA history in Friday's series-opening victory over OSU. --In her only appearance of the weekend, she struck out 12 in seven innings, allowing only four baserunners on three walks and a hit by pitch. She had 1-2-3 frames in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth, fanning the side in the seventh and two each in the first, fourth and fifth. Garcia's only baserunners allowed came on a first-inning hit by pitch and walk, a third-inning free pass and a seventh-inning walk. --Was also 3-for-8 (.375) at the plate with three RBI.
Garcia leads all active Bruins with six-career Student-Athlete of the Week honors. It's her first such accolade this season.
