Dexter Lake Invitational: UW To Face, USC, GU, OSU, Sac State
The No. 1-ranked Washington women's rowing team heads south this weekend to compete in the Dexter Lake Invitational, in Lowell, Ore.
Oregon State will host the Huskies, along with USC, Gonzaga and Sacramento State, in a five-team regatta featuring four races in which UW will participate. All five programs will race one crew in each of the "NCAA" events: the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four. In addition, Washington, Oregon State and Gonzaga will each bring two second varsity fours, and those six crews will square off in the morning's first race.
Fans can watch a live video stream of the event at GoHuskies.com/Live. Here is the schedule (updated on Fri. Apr. 23):
8:20 a.m. PT – Second Varsity Four
8:40 a.m. PT – Varsity Four
9:00 a.m. PT – Second Varsity Eight
9:20 a.m. PT – Varsity Eight
9:40 a.m. PT – Third Varsity Eight (UW, OSU, Gonzaga only)
Washington has already participated in regattas with both USC and Oregon State this season, as those three were among the six Pac-12 programs that competed at the lake Las Vegas Pac-12 Invitational. The Huskies rowed in races with the Beavers both days at Lake Las Vegas, but did not compete against USC.
The Huskies have held the No. 1 spot in seven Pocock CRCA Polls, presented by USRowing, this season, and remain there this week. USC is ranked No. 20, while Oregon State is one spot out of the top 20 among others receiving votes. Gonzaga received one vote in today's latest poll.
Following the trip to Dexter Lake, Washington will have just one week to prepare for the following Saturday, when the UW men and women will take on California at the Windermere Cup, May 1 at Montlake Cut.
