USC lone team in the red after opening day of 2021 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships

PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS CENTRALGOLFSTAT LIVE SCORING

STANFORD, Calif. - Paced by a 4-under-par 67 from senior Amelia Garvey and 3-under 68 from junior Malia Nam, USC took the first-round lead at the 2021 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships at par-71, 6,269-yard Stanford Golf Course on Friday.

The No. 5 nationally ranked and reigning Pac-12 champion Trojans were the only team to finish in the red on Friday at 1-under 283, six shots clear of host No. 22 STANFORD (289). No. 30 ARIZONA, No. 10 ARIZONA STATE and No. 24 UCLA rounded out the top-half of the 10 team field at 7-over 291.

Garvey shared the opening day individual lead at 4-under 67 with ARIZONA STATE sophomore Amanda Linner, followed by a trio at 3-under between Nam, STANFORD freshman Rachel Heck and UCLA sophomore Emma Spitz. CALIFORNIA sophomore Kristine Tran and COLORADO sophomore Ellie Gower were the only other competitors under par in the 53-player field at 1-under 70.

Saturday's second round will begin off split tees at 8:30 a.m. PT.
