ASU Falls 4-2 to UCLA in Pac-12 Semifinals

SAN DIEGO, Calif - Four-seed No. 33 Arizona State bowed out of the Pac-12 Championship Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 loss to top-seeded No. 5 UCLA at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. This mark's ASU's second semifinal final exit to UCLA in the tournament's short history.
 

After taking a swift loss in doubles play, the Sun Devils looked to rally in singles play. Lauryn John-Baptiste earned her second victory of the weekend with a pair of 6-2 sets at No. 3 against Elysia Bolton. Yesterday's hero, Marianna Argyrokastriti, then followed with her own two-set victory, the freshman winning 6-2, 6-4 over Sasha Vagramov at No. 5. Sammi Hampton looked to earn third point for ASU after forcing her match to a third set, but losses at No. 1, 4 and 6 closed the day out in the Bruins' favor.
 
ASU (14-8, 6-3 Pac-12) now looks to Monday, May 3 for the NCAA selection show to see where they may go for first and second round regional play. The show kicks off at 6 p.m.
