Cats Finish in Fourth at Pac-12 Championships
STANFORD, Calif. – Powered by a top-three finish by senior Yu-Sang Hou, No. 22 Arizona Women's Golf finished in fourth place at the 2021 Pac-12 Championships with a final team score of 9-over par. The Wildcats finished one stroke from a top-three finish, but they did receive a pair of top-10 finishes from the Hou sisters.
"We had another strong back nine to finish today's final round, and I am proud of how our team competed all three days," said head coach Laura Ianello. "Our entire lineup finished in the top 30 of the field, which is a testament to how all our young ladies have grown and developed this season. Now we look forward to Wednesday's selection show to see where our postseason will continue in NCAA Regionals."
Yu-Sang Hou's third-place finish was the sixth of her career and the first since finishing second at the 2019 El Tigre Invitational. Hou's low scores over the weekend came as she posted the best par-4 scoring average among the entire field at 3.96.
Sophomore Vivian Hou gave Arizona its second top-10 finish at 1-over par in a tie for 10th. Her efficiency on the par-4's, much like her sister, helped propel the Wildcats to be the best par-4 scoring team. By finishing in a tie for 10th at the championships, Hou has now finished in the top 10 on eight separate occasions in her young career.
Rounding out the Wildcats on the leaderboards were Gile Bite Starkute (T-17th), Ya Chun Chang (T-25th) and Therese Warner (T-27th).
With a fourth-place finish, Arizona has now finished in the top third of the conference championships in every year since the Pac-10 became the Pac-12 in 2012.
The NCAA Women's Golf Championship Selection Show will air live on GOLF Channel at 11 a.m. (MST) on Wednesday, April 28. The four regional host sites for NCAA Regionals are Baton Rouge, La., Columbus, Ohio, Simpsonville, Ky., and Stanford, Calif. on the same course as this weekend's Pac-12 Championships were played.
