Huskies Fourth In Final AVCA Coaches Poll

Apr 26, 2021

SEATTLE - For the second year in a row, Washington's final AVCA top-25 ranking was higher than at any previous point all season. After advancing to the program's fifth Final Four, the Huskies finished fourth in the final coaches poll, after entering the tournament ranked seventh.

In the previous season in 2019, Washington entered the NCAA tournament ranked ninth and in the final poll the Huskies wound up sixth, their highest point all season.

Washington finished the season 20-4 with the Pac-12 title and its first trip to the NCAA semifinals since 2013. The Huskies lost in four sets to Kentucky, which went on to defeat Texas in the final and finish No. 1 in the final poll. Texas comes in at No. 2. The Longhorns swept Wisconsin in the other semi. The Badgers had been No. 1 entering the tournament and come in at No. 3 in the final poll.

The No. 4 final ranking ties for the third-highest final ranking in UW history, behind the No. 1 ranking of the 2005 championship squad, and the No. 3 ranking for the 2004 team. The Huskies also finished ranked fourth in 2006 and 2013.

The Huskies have now ended the season with a Top-10 AVCA ranking in 14 of the past 18 years.
