Spitz, Wilson and Yoshihara Named All-Pac-12
STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomores Emma Spitz, Annabel Wilson and Yuki Yoshihara were each named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Teams, as announced after the conclusion of the Pac-12 Championships. Spitz earned First Team honors, while Wilson and Yoshihara were named Honorable Mention.
Spitz has finished in the Top 10 in six of her seven tournaments, holding a 72.2 scoring average. Of her 20 rounds, 11 have been under par, including three in the 60s. Spitz posted back-to-back, season-low rounds of 3-under 68 to open the Pac-12 Championships (April 23-25), where she tied for 10th (+1, 214). She was second at the Sun Devil Winter Classic (Feb. 15-17, -6, 210), producing three under-par rounds, including an opening, 3-under 69. Spitz also tied for second at the Lamkin Invitational (Feb. 8-9, -1, 215) and tied for third at the Silverado Showdown (April 5-7, -2, 214), opening with under par rounds in both tournaments. The sophomore tied for third at The Match in the Desert (Jan. 24-25, E, 144) and fourth at the Bruin Wave Invitational (March 1-3, +7, 223). Spitz is a combined 4-under in the opening rounds and 2-under in her second rounds.
Wilson is playing some of her best golf down the stretch, recording three-straight Top 10s. She tied for seventh at Pac-12s (-1, 212), including a 1-under 70 in round two and a season-low, 3-under 68 in the final round. Wilson tied for second at the PING/ASU Invitational (March 26-28, -4, 212), opening and closing with 2-under 70s, and tied for fifth at the Silverado Showdown (E, 216), finishing with a 2-under 70. She has three other Top 20s at The Match in the Desert (T-7, +4, 148), the Sun Devil Winter Classic (T-11, +3, 219) and the Lamkin Invitational (17th, +12, 228). Wilson has six under-par rounds and a 73.9 scoring average.
Yoshihara's best finish of the season was a tie for third at the Silverado Showdown (-2, 214), opening with a season-low, 2-under 70 and back-to-back, even-par 72s. Her first tournament of the season was the Bruin Wave Invitational, where she tied for 12th. Yoshihara also tied for 42nd at the Pac-12 Championships and tied for 64th at the PING/ASU Invitational.
The NCAA Selection Show for Regionals will air on GOLF Channel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. PT. Regional play will be held at four sites (Baton Rouge, La., Columbus, Ohio, Simpsonville, Ky and Stanford, Calif.). Each Regional will include 18 teams, with the top six teams advancing to the NCAA Championships.
