No. 5 ARIZONA STATE 4 v. No. 1 STANFORD 3

Fifth-seeded ARIZONA STATE made history at yesterday’s Pac-12 Men’s Tennis Championship by making the finals for the first time ever following a semifinals win over one-seed and four time tournament champion, Stanford (4-3). After falling to the Cardinal in doubles, the Sun Devils were able to make a comeback in singles to clinch the match.  Victories by Christian Lerby over Neel Rajesh (6-0 7-5), Tim Ruehl over Alexandre Rotsaert (7-5, 6-4) and Nathan Ponwith at the No. 1 spot over Axel Geller 7-5, 6-4 set up the final point needed.  WIth the match tied 3-3, ASU Freshman Max Mckennon won an epic three-setter over Timothy Sah (6-2, 4-6, 7-6), saving match points in the final set tiebreaker, to lead the Sun Devils to the final round of the Pac-12 Championship final for the first time in program history. 

No. 3 USC 4 v. No. 2 ARIZONA 1

Third-seeded USC took out two-seeded ARIZONA in yesterday’s Pac-12 Tennis semifinal round 4-1. The Trojans took the doubles point as Daniel Cukierman/Riley Smith took down the Wildcat’s Hassey/Ziverts (6-3).  Stefan Dostanic/Bradley Frye also took home a win for USC, taking down Arizona’s Malbasic/Reguant (6-4). Daniel Cukierman defeated Arizona’s Gustaf Strom in a speedy match (6-1, 6-2). Arizona’s Carlos Hassey beat USC's Jake Sands (6-1, 7-6) to make the score 2-1.However Stefan Dostanic responded with a win over Filip Malbasic (4-6, 6-3, 6-4), to put USC back in a comfortable lead. Bradley Frye clinched the match for the Trojans with a 5-7, 7-3, 6-4 over Arizona’s Alejandro Ruguant. This will be the eighth Pac-12 final for the Trojans as they seek to take their fifth title for the Pac-12 Men’s tennis championships.
