Hurta Repeats As Pac-12 Runner Of The Week

Apr 28, 2021

SAN FRANCISCO – Colorado track and field senior Sage Hurta repeated as the Pac-12 Runner of the Week following her impressive performance at the USATF Grand Prix.

Hurta becomes the only CU track athlete to earn multiple Pac-12 Athlete of the Week honors, joining Emily Hunsucker who achieved the honor for the field athlete of the week three times in her career.

The achievement comes after Hurta placed eighth in the Grand Prix Women's 1,500-meter run. She was the only collegiate runner in the race and finished in 4:08.38, making her the 11th-fastest performer in NCAA history and tying Jenny Simpson's mark 12 years early for the fastest women's 1,500 run by an NCAA athlete in the month of April. She also moves to fourth in school history in the event.

Hurta is accompanied by Cole Hocker (Men's Track/Oregon), JT Herrscher (Men's Field/Stanford) and Virginia Miller (Women's Field/Stanford).

The Buffs will head to the West Coach Relays this Friday at Fresno State to compete.
