TEMPE, Ariz. – The 2021 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championship is ready to begin on Thursday with Sun Devil Beach Volleyball earning a No. 6 seed and facing No. 3 seed Arizona at 11:30 a.m. MST.
The tournament will be held from April 29 through May 1 at UCLA. It is double elimination with a winners bracket and a contenders bracket. Every dual will be live on the Pac-12 Network. Each match will play until a winner clinches the dual.
Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (9-10, 4-7 Pac-12)
- Despite falling in the last regular-season dual of the season against the Wildcats last week, the Sand Devils have won five of their last seven matchups.
- The last time the Pac-12 Championships were held in 2019, ASU had a strong showing. The team beat Cal in the opener and Stanford in the first contenders bracket dual. Current senior Samantha Plaster was named to the all-tournament team that year.
- The Sun Devils and Wildcats will face each other for the third time this season. Arizona has been victorious in the other two duals, winning both by a 4-1 margin.
- Two pairs are tied for the most wins on the team this season with 11. The top pair of Katelyn Carballo and Lexi Sweeney are 11-8, playing every dual at the No. 1 spot. Cierra Flood and Sarah Waters also have the same 11-8 mark, primarily playing on court three.
